Once in a career or many times in a career, helping a client who is considering euthanizing their dog because of behavior problems is never an easy task. Learn about situations where euthanasia becomes a consideration, and how to cover (address and/or eliminate) other options. Discover the impact of major influencing factors, such as safety, stress (for the dog and/or the owners) and liability, and some differences owners face between euthanasia for behavioral reasons and euthanasia for physical causes. Participants will also develop an understanding of how to support clients through a decision to euthanize, and what to do after that decision is made. This is not a debate of individual cases concerning euthanasia, but an opportunity to learn how you, as a dog trainer, can help a client who is faced with one of the most difficult decisions of pet ownership.
